SMILE - Saying Everything Without Words

“Nothing you wear is more important than your smile” - Connie Stevens

A smile is an expression of emotion. Smile is infection. It connects people transcending the barrier of language, race, region and culture. It is a simple yet most genuine, beautiful and precious gesture that can expel darkness of a room, reignite hope in a troubled soul and dissolve divisions.

A smile symbolizes hope and happiness. It conveys empathy and kindness. In this complex world of chaos, conflicts, challenges and confusion, a smile works like a magic by sending a message that there is still plenty of love, hope, compassion and happiness to connect human with an invisible yet tight thread.

However, not all smiles are cute, sweet, simple and innocent. We have compiled smiles of different shade through our visual messages and leave it to you to decide the emotion behind each.

A smile is a reflection of a mindset

A smile is a mirror to your mindset. Not all smiles are a reflection of a happy soul. There are different types of smile and each of them reflects a certain state of mental condition. Giggle, laugh, chuckle – all these are different forms of smiles and carry a different meaning.

A smile could be a silent or overt harbinger of serious, disastrous and scathing salvo. Sometimes, a smile strikes fear in your mind. We call it a Devil’s Smile. A smile can have different layers. It could be like an enigma unlikely to decipher ever.

Some smiles are worth million dollars. Remember actress Madhubala? Her smile was as divine as her beautiful face.

Sometimes, we hang a smile of pretension, other times we smile out of a genuine gesture to greet, praise, and congratulate a person. We also laugh at people.

There are events where a smile is a part of formalities. We try to wear a smiley face when being introduced to someone else at a family event, corporate meeting or public place. It’s mix of pretension and formality.

A child’s smile is full of innocence. Its giggles can soak in all the deep-seated worries and anxiety of your soul. It can drive out your fear and despair in the blink of an eye. And there is a ‘shy’ smile. A newly-wed bride, who blushes with a different kind of joy, pleasure and happiness, smiles coyly.

Smile usually evaporates from our face when we are in dire stress and going through tough times. However, there are some people who never forget to smile even if they are in troubles.

And there are “Laughing Clubs”. People go there to laugh out loud. They raise their hands up and burst out laughing. It is famously called “Laughter Therapy”. It sounds like a ‘laughing’ concert. Those, who are regular at Kolkata Maidan, know what I mean.

Animals also smile

Oh, yes, they smile like us. Well, they don’t have any laughing club and we don’t know for sure if they too smile in different ways. However, they too have a mind and smile is an expression of their emotive feelings.

It spreads quickly

Nothing is as contagious as a smile. If a group of friends are laughing for something and another has just arrived, the person will share laughter even before becoming aware of the discussion.

It is often said that a beautiful mind has a beautiful smile and vice versa. A beautiful smile always stays alive in our soul, brightens our mood and puts a balmy touch on our life. Why not to cherish and celebrate it?
